" Citizens' Conservation of Green Areas-A Case Study of Mt. Konosusan-"
Konosusan is a mountain with an altitude of 100.4 meters on the border between Ozasa, Chuo-ku and Nagaoka, Minami-ku, south of Fukuoka City Zoological Garden, and was a typical satoyama in the past. In 1975, 6.4ha of it was designated as one of the first greenery conservation areas by Fukuoka City, and has reached the present Konosusan Special Greenery Conservation Area (16.7ha).
Mr. Takeshi Shiga established "Konosu Satoyama Club" in 2002, and has been developing the conservation of Satoyama together with the citizens, such as clearing bamboo and bamboo grass and thinning out appropriate trees in the Konosusan Special Green Area Conservation Area. rice field. I would like to learn from that rich experience of conservation activities.

Atagoyama is a cat paradise spot that people in the know know. This time, we planned a lecture by inviting experts from "local cats". Mr. Yamane, a lecturer, is a leading expert in cat ecology research, such as continuing fieldwork for 7 years in Ainoshima, Fukuoka Prefecture. He has written books such as "The Secret of the Cat" (Bunshu Shinsho) and "The Cat is Amazing" (Asahi Shinsho). Until recently, he was a curator at the Kitakyushu Museum of Natural History and History (Museum of Life).

Initiatives for "Atago Forest and Green Conservation Activities"
On May 21st and June 18th, we will work on the conservation of native plants on Mt. Atago. Specifically, we will collect invading foreign plants, debris, and garbage. Please see the leaflet for details on your belongings, clothes, etc.
