Hakata Hakkei - Urayama Shuban as a Scinic Spot

"Hakata-Hakkei" : The First "Hakkei (Eight Scenic Spots)" in Japan
Though the name as "Ohmi-Hakkei" or "Kanazawa-Hakkei" is well-known as a set of 8 scenic spots ("Hakkei"), the earliest "Hakkei" in Japan is "Hakata-Hakkei" . Do you know it?

In the late Kamakura era, chief priest of Shokuku-ji temple named Tettan Dousho (鉄庵道生,1262-1331) selected 8 scenic spots within Hakata-Bay area, and as a set of scenic spots, called them "Hakata-Hakkei". He composed as Chinese-style poem, Shichigon-zekku ("七言絶句" : a Chinese poem of four lines, each of seven characters). He quoted "Hakkei" from "Shoushou-Hakkei (湘瀟八景)" that is selected in southern riverside district of Dotei-lake in China.

Mt. Atago-yama Is One of the "Hakata-Hakkei"
                                                               Selected by Tettan Dousho
Eight scenic spots selected by Tettan Dousho in Chinese Poems 純鐵集(Dontetsu-shu) are figured in the following map : ①香椎暮雪(Kashii-Bosetsu), ②筥崎蚕市(Hakozaki-Sanshi), ③長橋春潮(Nagahashi-Syuncho), ④荘浜泛月(Shohama-Hangetsu), ⑤志賀独釣(Shika-Dokucho), ⑥浦山秋晩(Urayama-Shuban), ⑦一崎松行(Issaki-Shoko), ⑧野古帰帆(Noko-Kihan). (Urayama-Shuban)" in them is the poem that composed the scenery of Atago-yama at dusk in late Autumn.

Urayama at dusk in late Autumn

Thirty years ago, I saw and devoured so many excellent scenic spots.
Sometimes, I flew in dreams and fell on misty and peaceful summits.

And now, I become decrepit and already saw the ends of the earth.
Autumn chilly wind blows to my side-locks, in the frosted mountain.

This poem might be a lamentation of decrepit old figure of himself superimposing the scenery of Urayama(=Atago-yama) at dusk in late Autumn.
This poem is thought to be the first description that Atago-yama is one of the excellent scenic spots().

Another "Hakata-Hakkei"
