フデリンドウ クサノオウ
今、ツクシヤマザクラが見頃となり、一部の樹はすでにほぼ満開となっています。ここ暫くは天候がすぐれないようですが、この希少種であるツクシヤマザクラをめでに、是非、愛宕山を訪れてみませんか。鑑賞のベストスポットは鷲尾城があったとされる場所で、岩井屋の脇から登ったところです(ロープウェー山上駅跡近く)。
ツクシヤマザクラはこの地域固有のサクラです(九州西部の海岸地域に分布するヤマザクラの海岸型変種)。愛宕山には現在、10数本のツクシヤマザクラ生えています。しかし、それらは長いこと手入れされないまま放置されてきたため衰弱し、絶滅しかねない状況にあります。
ツクシヤマザクラ衰弱の主な原因は周囲の広葉常緑樹の成長に伴う陽光の遮断です。守る会は福岡市の許可の下、陽光が樹の根元までも行き渡るよう周辺を整備し、その回復への取り組みを行なってまいりました。その結果、樹勢が回復の兆しを見せ始め、この１～２年で花付きも良くなってきているという成果を上げることができました。それと共に、愛宕山が「ツクシヤマザクラの里」になることを目指し、「愛宕サクラプロジェクト」を立ち上げています。その一歩として、ツクシヤマザクラの挿し木による植樹に取り組んでいます(未生や一般に広く行われている接木は種の保存上避けています)。ヤマザクラの挿し木は一般には困難とされていますが、ツクシヤマザクラの挿し木を始めてから３年目の今年、その手法をほぼ確立し、３本の植樹を初めて行うことができました。当面の目標である200本にはまだまだですが。
この他にも、フデリンドウの一部が咲き出し、クサノオウも咲いています。

梅まつりに愛宕山の竹が登場 （2023.02.14）
２月の11～12日の２日間、鶴舞公園の梅園で「福岡城 梅まつり」が３年ぶりに開催されました。園内には約270本の紅白の梅の花が見頃となり、家族づれで賑わいました。この会場に大濠の花壇つくりのボランティアグループ（舞鶴フラワー）がブースを設け、その際、梅を生ける花器として竹が用いられました。この竹の花器が来場者に評判で、希望者に譲ったところ、最後には用意した物が全てなくなったとの事でした。
実はこの花器、愛宕の森と緑を守る会が愛宕山で伐採して提供した竹で作ったものです。

今、アブラギクが見頃です （2022.11.22）
晩秋の愛宕山では、この山独特の紅葉が深まっています。紅葉の主役はハゼノキで、緑の中で黄色〜紅が目立ちます。サクラの紅葉はあまり目立ちませんが、ロープウェー山上駅跡脇のカキノキの紅葉は風情があります。
晩秋の花の主役は鮮やかな黄色のアブラギク。一時期減少の危機にあったアブラギクですが、守る会の保全の取り組みで復活。しかし移植し見事に咲き誇った場所（北面、愛宕山観光道路登り口、住宅展示場の駐車場の上）が擁壁再設置工事で潰され、再移植を余儀なくされました。その際に救出した株や苗を工事終了後の2020年秋に移植を開始し、今日に至っています。他の場所への移植も含め保全活動はまだまだ途上ですが、それでもこの時期、一見するに値する姿を見せています。

鮮やかなオレンジ色の花が咲くノカンゾウ(左下の画像)は、昔は雑木林の縁や湿り気のある野原でよく見られた在来種です
が、生息環境が狭められ、今日ではめったに見かけることがな
くなってしまいました。熊本県・大分県では指定希少野生動植
物に指定されている種です。愛宕山では東の城ノ辻方向に伸び
る尾根筋の南面の草原(春には見事な菜の花畑になるところ)に
点在し、その他の場所では生えていません。ところがこの場所で大規模マンション建設の計画が浮上し、それが実現すると愛宕山の緑が縮小するとともに、菜の花畑が見られなくなるだけでなく、ノカンゾウが消滅してしまいます。そのような事態を回避するために、守る会ではノカンゾウの株の一部の移植に取り組みました。左下の画像は仮移植場所の様子です。根に付いている"芋"を切り離さずに掘り起こし、植えるのは結構大変な作業でした。

ツクシヤマザクラの植樹がスタート （2022.11.09）
愛宕山をツクシヤマザクラの里にしようと、この間、挿し木で増やす取り組みをしてきました。挿し木の取り組みは、実生では他のサクラとの混雑、丈夫なオオシマザクラを台木とする接ぎ木はオオシマザクラの拡散を招くといった問題があり、これを避けるための取り組みです。しかし、苗木として育つ成功率は低く、困難です。そうした状況ではありま
すが、この度、植樹できる苗木を３本確保できましたので、10月
29日の「秋の愛宕山森づくり２０２２」イベントの中で、ささや
かではありますが、初めての植樹を行いました。今後、挿し木の
成功率を高め、より多くの植樹が可能となるよう取り組みを進め
ていく予定です。

台風11号でツクシヤマザクラが大被害！ （2022.09.09）
６日に福岡の沖を通過した台風によって、愛宕山でも多くの樹が折れるなどの被害を受けました。その中でも毎年見事な満開の姿を見せていた１本のツクシヤマザクラ(愛宕山のツクシヤマザクラの中で一番華やかに咲いた樹)が根元から折れ、倒れてしまいました。希少なツクシヤマザクラの保全に取り組んでいる最中だっただけに、極めて残念な事態です。

根元から折れ、探索路を塞いでしまった。他にも強風で幹や枝が折れた樹が少なくない。
腐っていた根元。根元から倒れたのは、外見上は目立たなかったが腐っていたのが原因。
撤去のために切断。幹の切り口はともに約25cmあり一部が腐っているが、根元ほどではない。

愛宕山ではサクラが見頃に （2022.03.26）
今年はソメイヨシノ以外は開花が遅くなっているようです。ソメイヨシノは樹によってばらつきがありますが、もう見頃になりつつあります。また、山中に生えるツクシヤマザクラも樹によっては、すでに見頃になっています。鷲尾城跡広場にあるツクシヤマザクラのうちの２本は満開に近い咲き具合です。
フデリンドウは昨年よりひと月ほど遅れているようですが、チラホラと咲きだしています。残念なことに、日陰となる道路沿いの大きな樹が伐採あるいは強剪定された結果、その木陰で咲いていたフデリンドウは全滅してしまいました。
いずれも24日に撮影した画像です。春日和の日、愛宕山の花見に訪れては如何でしょう。

しばらく絶版になっていたパンフレットですが、2021年度版がやっと出来上がりました。A5版、24ページだてです。2020年度版は自然編だけでしたが、今年度版は歴史・文化も含んでいます。新しい「愛宕山の散策ガイド」を片手に散策をお楽しみ頂ければ、何らかの新しい発見に出会えると思います。これから順次、鷲尾愛宕神社や音次郎稲荷、愛宕山近くの公民館や市・西区役所で手に入るよう準備しているところです。もしご希望があれば、希望部数と合わせご連絡頂ければ、お送り致します。

いよいよ春本番が近づいてきました
愛宕山を訪れてみませんか （2022.03.20）
たまに寒い日がまだありますが、だいぶ春めいてきましたね。愛宕山ではカワヅザクラは散ってしまいましたがソメイヨシノがもうそろそろです。フデリンドウは例年になく咲くのが遅れ、まだチラホラです。１ヶ月も遅れているといったところでしょうか。でも間もなく可憐な花が見頃になると思われます。ツクシヤマザクラはまだ暫くお預けですが、今、何が咲いているか探しがてらの散策を是非。
この冬からの間に、探索路とりわけ階段の整備や樹の名札付け、ロープウェイ山上駅機械室跡の整備、ツクシヤマザクラ周りの雑草の刈り取りなどの作業を進めてきましたので、探索路にもぜひ足を踏み入れて下さい。

カワヅザクラがもうすぐ開花 （2022.01.22）
今年は寒さが一段と厳しいようですが、愛宕山の樹々はすでに新しい春の準備に入っています。北側参道(愛宕山観光道路)沿いのカワヅザクラの蕾がだいぶ膨らんできています。そして今日、一輪が咲いていました。三輪咲くと「開花」だそうですが、あと一両日で開花ということになりそうです。まだまだ寒い日が続きそうですが、早くの満開が楽しみです。

謹賀新年 愛宕山にある干支の植物 （2022.01.01）

今年の干支は虎ですが、愛宕山には干支にちなんだ植物オカトラノオ(サクラソウ科)が自生しています。海にはウミトラノオ(ホンダワラ科)があり、湿地には花穂が垂れないヌマトラノオ(サクラソウ科)があります。トラノオ(リュウゼツラン科)もありますが、これは南アフリカ原産の観葉植物です。
市街地では希少になってしまった植物がある愛宕山に改めて感謝です。

Now that the weather is getting better, why don't you go to Atagoyama with love for this precious cherry blossom? The viewing spot is on the western slope of Oyama's summit square, where Washio Castle was said to have been. It is just before the ruins of Ropeway Yamagami Station, after climbing the side of Iwaya. In addition, it will be backlit in the afternoon, so it is recommended to watch in the morning. The first and second shots were taken on March 9, and the third shot was taken in December last year.

Gentiana was sprouting (2020.09.05)
When Gentiana died and weeds and unnecessary shoots were cut from the colony, I found that Gentiana was newly germinated. The freshly germinated gentian is inconspicuous, so when I searched carefully, I was able to confirm the germination of about 20 strains. I thought that gentian germination would germinate in autumn, after it gets cooler, or in late autumn.
It means that it had already germinated at the end of summer or during the harsh heat of the summer. Given the situation, I don't think it's because of the extreme weather these days.

Atago by improving the habitat of butterflies, and to bring them closer to the appearance of butterflies that used to fly a lot. As part of these efforts, we are protecting food trees and nectar plants and planting trees.
This time, before the cold winter, as a way to improve the wintering environment for the larvae of Hestina persimilis, we installed a fence under the trunk of the celtis sinensis, which is the food tree, and laid dead leaves of the celtis sinensis in the fence. It was carried out at a place. The larvae of Hestina persimilis grow on the leaves of the celtis sinensis, but as winter approaches, they run down the trunk and overwinter behind the dead leaves at the base of the tree. It is a butterfly that climbs the trunk again when new leaves are attached to the celtis sinensis in April of the following spring, then eats the leaves of the celtis sinensis and grows, and becomes a pupa and emerges in May to June.
Atagoyama's roots of the celtis sinensis were paved, making it difficult for dead leaves to collect, so it was necessary to install a fence at the base and collect and spread the dead leaves of the celtis sinensis. The larvae in the photo are the ones that have just entered the wintering season due to this maintenance.
In addition, since the Japanese emperor has almost the same ecology, it may be possible to discover the Japanese emperor.
