Japan's first "eight views" = "Hakata eight views"
"Eight Views of Omi" and "Eight Views of Kanazawa" are well known, but did you know that "Hakata Eight Views" was actually the first "Eight Views of Hakata" to be created in Japan?

The origin of the "Hakkei" is eight scenic landscapes of the water town area in the Changsha area of Hunan province, south of Dongting Lake in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in China. Song Di, a high-ranking bureaucrat who was assigned to this area during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), wrote a landscape painting as "Shosho Eight Views", and then shen Kuo (1031). -1095) introduced this painting in his collection of writings, "Dream Pool Essays and Calligraphy", and passed on the name of "Sho Hakkei" to posterity. Michio Tetsuan probably chose "Hakata Eight Views" by comparing Hakata Bay to Dongting Lake.

Atago is one of the eight scenic spots of Hakata selected by Michio Tetsuan.

Tetsuan Michio is Chinese poetry collection "JunTetsushu" (DonTetsu week) Hakkei of matches to is an 8-places of the landscape shown in the map below, ① Kashii Bosetsu (Kashii Bosetsu), ② Hakozaki silkworm City (the Kozaki-san, ③ Nagahashi Shuncho, ④ Shohama Hangetsu, ⑤ Shiga Dokcho, ⑥ Urayama Shuban , ⑦ Matsuyuki Ichizaki, ⑧ Nokokihan. Another "Hakata Eight Views"

Apart from Hakata Eight Views of Tetsuan Michio, another "Hakata Eight Views" was sung in the early modern period. In 1765 (Meiwa 2), it appears in " Sekijoshi" by Motoko Tsuda and father and son Motonuki. In fact, Hakata Eight Views of Tetsuan Michio stayed in the world of Zen, and this new Hakata Eight Views was more widespread. Urayama (Atagoyama) does not appear there, but instead it is selected by spreading to the mountains around Dazaifu.
The newly written eight views are Wet Cloth Night Rain, Hakozaki Seiran, Branch Sugi (Wakasugi) Akizuki, Nata Rakugan, Hakata Rakugan. These are Hakata Kihan, Yokodake Bansho, Kamadoyama Bosetsu, and Najima Yusho.
