Suga Shrine
Until recently, there was a shrine of Suga Shrine at the top of a small mountain in the south-southeast of Atago Shrine, but it has now been removed and is missing. Who removed it? There are Suga Shrines all over the country, and it is a shrine of Gion Faith whose deity is Gozu Tenno and Susanoo-no-Mikoto, and Suga Shrine here may have been one of them. The grass-covered mountain top is relatively flat, with several cherry trees, and you can see the cherry blossoms in full bloom during the season. To get to this place, go up the stairs next to Iwaya at the entrance of Atago Shrine and between the commentary board of "Atagoyama Cable Car" and follow the road in the forest. You can also climb from the side of the parking lot at Otojiro Inari, although it is a little steep. The remains of the ropeway station are just behind the site of the shrine. It is said that Hojo Kanetoki built Tandai Castle (Meinohama Castle, Washio Castle) on this mountain, but it is now accepted that Tandai Castle was located elsewhere. What was the Washio Castle that used to be here?
