Teika Kuzu. It is a vine evergreen shrub of the genus Trachelospermum in the family Apocynaceae and is native to Japan. Also known as Setta Kazura. The ancient name Masakinokazura. Crawl up trees and rocks with aerial roots. It is a poisonous plant and should not be touched by the white emulsion that comes out when it is damaged or broken. The flowers that bloom from May to June are fragrant and change from white to pale yellow.
The name comes from the story that Fujiwara no Teika, who loved Princess Shikishi, became a chasuble and entwined with her grave even after her death (Noh, the song "Teika").
