White glue tree. A deciduous tree of the genus Sumac in the family Rhus chinensis. Dioecious. Also known as Fushinoki, Kachinoki (Katsu no Ki), Rhus chinensis (because the autumn leaves are beautiful). A typical pioneer plant that first enters open spaces. Some people get sick once in a while. The white juice collected after scratching was used as the paint.
When the Rhus chinensis aphid parasitizes the leaves, large galls are formed, and tannins accumulate in the humps, which are used for leather tanning, or used as a raw material for black dye, ink, and gray hair dyeing. .. It was also once used for tooth black. The crude drug Rhus chinensis or Rhus chinensis is called swelling and toothache, and the fruit is called Enbushi, which is used for diarrhea and coughing.
Rhus chinensis leaves. It is characteristic that wings are attached to the leaf axis.
Rhus chinensis fruit. Rhus chinensis has another name, Shionoki (salt tree). The white powder on the surface of the fruit is a crystal of calcium malate, which was used as a substitute for salt.
