Wild thorns. A vine deciduous shrub of the genus Rose in the family Rosaceae. Also known as Novara (wild rose). It is a representative wild species of Japanese roses and is distributed all over the country except Okinawa. The branches have sharp thorns that get caught in the yab and hurt. The flowering season is from April to June. A faintly fragrant flower blooms in tufts at the tip of the branch. There is a style in the center of the five white heart-shaped petals, and many prominent yellow stamens are attached around it. In autumn, spherical fruits (fake fruits) of about 8 mm grow, and when ripe, they turn bright red and stand out even after the leaves have fallen.
