Screw wood. Also known as Casio Simi. A deciduous small tree of the genus Lyonia ovalifolia in the family Ericaceae. The name was given because the trunk is twisted. The bark is finely split vertically. Similar trees include Japanese andromeda and sea bilberry. Like Japanese andromeda, it is a poisonous plant, and especially leaves should not be given to livestock.

Alternating leaves spread from the horizontally extending branches to the left and right. The flowering season is from May to June, with horizontal branches extending from the branches of the previous year, and white flowers with a pot shape of about 1 cm in length and split into five tips line up downward.
Because the wood is dense and beautiful, it is used for crafts such as chopsticks and combs, but be careful as using raw wood as it is will cause paralysis and vomiting.
