Naeshiro 茱萸. An evergreen shrub of the genus Elaeagnaceae. The branches have thorns and are 2-3 m high. Distributed from west of the Izu Peninsula to the coastal areas of Kyushu. Also known as Tawaragumi and Tokiwagumi. The flowering period is autumn.

The red ripe fruit can be eaten. The name of Elaeagnus pungens is that the fruits ripen around April to May when the seedlings are made.
