Ilex tree. Aquifoliaceae Ilex genus. Also known as Ilex. It is the raw material for birdlime, and this is the origin of the name. It is a dioecious evergreen tree, and it is a rare tree that changes sex with the whole plant. It is distributed south of the southeastern part of the country and is found in the warm seaside mountains.

Male flower of Ilex. The flowering season is around April. The flowers bloom in bundles. There are 4 petals and 4 stamens.

Ilex fruit. In autumn, spherical fruits with a diameter of about 1 cm grow, and when ripe, they turn a beautiful red color. It is not as dense as Ilex rotunda, but the fruit is large and conspicuous. There are four seeds in the fruit. Leave the unfertilized fruit in the air.

Ilex trunk. The bark is grayish brown and smooth.
