Ten thousand cars. An evergreen shrub of the genus Ardisia japonica in the family Myrsinoideae. Also known as Tachibana, Koji. It is distributed from India to East Asia, and in Japan it grows naturally from west of Kanto to Okinawa. Around July, a flower with five torn white petals and yellow stamens blooms at the tip of a twig. The combination of shiny red fruits and green leaves that are attached in winter is preferred and used for garden trees, and it is also used as a lucky tree for the New Year. It has been improved as a classical horticultural plant for a long time, and various cultivars such as variegated, white and yellow fruits are cultivated.
