Matake. The genus Phyllostachys in the family Gramineae. The distinction between Madake and Mosouchiku is the difference in the number of bulges (rings) at the nodes. Madake has two rings, and Mosouchiku has one ring from the root to the node where the branch comes out. Bamboo shoots of Madake, unlike Mosouchiku, can eat the soft part of the tip even if they extend about 1 m from the soil.
A few years ago, a bamboo grove spread out just below the precincts on the east side of Atago Shrine, blocking the view from the precincts. There is. If left untreated, bamboo will rapidly infest, eliminating other trees and destroying diverse and abundant satoyama thickets. Atagoyama did not have many madake until about 10 years ago, and the view on the east side from the precincts of Washio Atago Shrine was good. It is currently being improved.
