Hakusan tree. An evergreen small tree of the genus Viburnum in the family Moschatel. Also known as Isebi, Yamateru (from the luster of the leaves). An endemic species of Japan distributed near Aichi prefecture and west of Yamaguchi prefecture. The flowers bloom from March to May. It is white and has a peculiar offensive odor. The leaves are thick, the surface is glossy, and the veins are conspicuous. The fruits that grow from October to December are about 8 mm long and can be eaten when they ripen red. Sweet and sour. The branches are elastic and are used for wood nails. Viburnum is similar to the distance, but the leaves of the viburnum are thin and dull. Also, compared to viburnum, the saw teeth are conspicuous. Viburnum is a deciduous tree, so it can be distinguished.
