Wisteria. Leguminosae Mauve. Also known as Noda Fuji. A vine deciduous tree native to Japan. The vine is S-wound (reverse screw). It is similar to Yamafuji (Yamafuji, also known as Nofuji), but the vine is wound in the opposite way (Yamafuji is Z-wound), so you can easily distinguish it by paying attention to that point. The flowering pattern is also different (Fuji blooms sequentially from the base of the bunch, but Yamafuji blooms collectively). In the photo, the way the flowers are attached looks like Yamafuji, but it is near the end of blooming.
