Peony odor tree. Deciduous shrub of the genus Clerodendrum of the Labiatae family (evergreen in the subtropics). Also known as Himalayan harlequin, safflower harlequin. It was once classified as Verbenaceae. The flowering season is from July to August (~ 11). It is a cultivated species native to southern China, but it has become wild in warm regions. The name comes from the fact that the flowers gather in a hemispherical shape, and when the branches and leaves are cut, there is a strong offensive odor.
